Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream Review

Pixi Rose Ceramide Cream Review
Pixi calls their Rose Ceramide Cream an "ultra-rich cream infused with Ceramides and Rose Oil to deeply hydrate the skin for a healthier, more supple appearance and feel. Antioxidant-rich botanicals help to improve skin’s elasticity while protecting against environmental aggressors." This moisturizer spent a long time on my Wishlist before it was kindly gifted to me by Pixi. The Rose Ceramide Cream contains 50ml (1.7 oz) and retails for $40AUD ($24/£24). Pixi is cruelty free. This moisturizer was made in Korea.

Pixi's Rose Ceramide Cream comes in a gorgeous pink aluminium squeeze tube that has a really appealing vintage vibe. In function, this moisturizer's packaging can be a little troublesome - it's easy to squeeze out too much product, and now that it's rolled down and at the very end, it's difficult to get any product at all out. But damn, if it isn't lovely when it's brand new! Packaging is recyclable.

Texturally speaking, Rose Ceramide Cream is very different from what I expected! I anticipated a rich, heavy, emollient cream that takes forever to absorb, but instead I was met with a lightweight white lotion that spreads nicely over the skin and sinks in quickly. Rose Ceramide Cream feels lovely on the skin, it feels wet and cooling, yet still quite nourishing and moisturizing. This moisturizer really plumps the skin, making an excellent pre-foundation prep step.

I'm not super experienced with ceramides in my skincare, but I'm quickly getting to the age where I should be! I've been wary of ceramides, as I'd heard they can cause breakouts, and my skin has been quite finicky over the last six to nine months. Sure enough, I began breaking out just a few days after I introduced Pixi's Rose Ceramide Cream into my routine, but the issue resolved as quickly as it started - I'm not sure if it was a coincidental breakout, or if my skin had to adjust to the ceramides in this moisturizer's formula. After that first week or so, Rose Ceramide Cream gave me lovely skin! Dewy, plump, smooth - all very nice, with no congestion.

Pixi's Rose Ceramide Cream has a simple base of water, texturizing ingredients, and emollients. Honestly I think this moisturizer leans a little bit silicone heavy, which creates that lovely consistency, but it may cause issues for easily congested skin. This moisturizer contains a handful of sensitizing botanical extracts like grapefruit, bergamot, and rosemary oils, but it's also bursting with nourishing ingredients like shea butter,  rose extract, and of course, ceramides. Some interesting ingredients to mention include bifida yeast extract, which is said to nourish and strengthen the skin, and a small amount of exfoliating PHA (I think it acts as more of a preservative in this formula than an active exfoliator, but nonetheless, it is present). This moisturizer doesn't contain any traditional fragrance, but the citrus oils mentioned above create a soft herbal citrus scent.

In my opinion I think Pixi's Rose Ceramide Cream is best suited to those with moderately dry to combo skin types. This moisturizer is likely too heavy for those with oily, congestion prone skin, yet not quite rich enough to soothe very dry skin. It's important to note that this moisturizer contains at least two nut extracts - they're present in very small quantities, but they're still common allergens worth pointing out.

I've enjoyed Pixi's Rose Ceramide Cream! I have a handful of qualms with the ingredient list, but my overall experience with the product has been good! There were a few literal and figurative bumps during my first week of use, but from then on I had nothing but good results. If you're looking to try a Pixi moisturizer, I think the Rose Ceramide Cream is a great choice.
