Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream Review

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream Review
Kiehl's says their Ultra Facial Cream is a "light-textured, daily hydrator" that "leaves skin comfortable and visibly well-balanced, particularly in harsh weather conditions. Our formula is made with Antarcticine - a Glycoprotein extracted from microorganisms sourced from sea glaciers and notable for an ability to protect skin from cold temperatures - as well as Imperata Cylindrica, a plant indigenous to the Australian desert which possesses superb water retention properties in dry conditions." This moisturizer is available in three sizes, 28ml ($24), 50ml ($44), and 125ml ($79). Kiehl's is not cruelty free. This product was made in the USA.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream comes in a white plastic jar that offers a ton of product information, front and back, in the brand's typical apothecary inspired style. I don't love jar packaging for moisturizers, but I do find it aesthetically pleasing. Packaging is recyclable.

I put off trying this moisturizer for months because it felt so boring, but it's been surprisingly impactful on my skin! Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream is a plain, white, unscented cream with a completely average consistency. Can you understand why I found it boring? It's unassuming - but it leaves my skin so glowy, plump, and comfortable! I've been using the Ultra Facial Cream day and night, and it hasn't caused any issues on my recently problematic skin. Makeup and sunscreen sit nicely over it, skincare products layer nicely - really I have no complaints about it. If I had to pick out one little thing I don't like about it, I'd say that it feels a little tacky on the skin for maybe 5 minutes after application, but it gives way to such nicely moisturized skin that I really don't mind.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream has a base of water, glycerin, squalane, and silicones, enriched with fatty alcohols, apricot, avocado, rice bran, olive, and sweet almond oils. The rest of the ingredient list is mainly made up of texture enhancers, with the featured ingredients right down there at the bottom, mingling with the preservatives - they may as well not be there, honestly. This moisturizer is fragrance free.

I loved Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, it places among the best moisturizers I've tried. The formula and presentation are so simple, yet the results are stellar. I finished my jar just the other day, and would love to repurchase it after I work through the moisturizers I already have. If you want a straightforward face cream that will leave your skin hydrated and glowing, Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream is a great mid-range choice.
