Five March Favorites

I haven't done a Favorites post in a year in a half! My last one went up in September 2017! I stopped doing them because they'd become kind of overwhelming for me. At the time, I wasn't able to purchase many products just to try - the products that I did have a budget for needed to be good. At the same time, I was scarcely receiving any press samples, both of which hindered my ability to branch out and try new things. My favorites became repetitive to write, and probably read. So I just stopped. My circumstances have changed and I've been interested in getting back into the Favorites game. I'm going to try out a Five Monthly Favorites format, which is super over done, but it feels realistic for me. Maybe I'll end up easing into my old format, who knows. But for now, I have Five March Favorites for you - some beauty, some lifestyle, but all well loved by me this month. Click through to read more.

1. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Concentrated Cream
I've been pretty devoted to Soap&Glory's Hand Food Hand Cream over the last few years, but I decided to branch out and try Palmer's Cocoa Butter Concentrated Cream during a recent sale. This thick moisturizer is insanely hydrating, and very rich, bordering on greasy but not so much so that it makes basic tasks difficult. While I do use the Concentrated Cream on my hands, I truly love it for my feet. During summer I tend to get really dry, uncomfortable foots, and this has been a perfect cure for it!

I read a sanitized, abridged version of Diary of a Young Girl in seventh grade, which didn't interest me in the slightest, as it felt so...contrived? Anne's strong personality was edited into a "1940s golden child" voice that made her hard to relate to or even imagine as a real person. A friend recently read the proper version and was so deeply touched by the book that I couldn't help but be curious about reading it myself. I found an audio book narrated by Helena Bonham Carter and was immediately enthralled by Anne's story. She was such an endearing and intelligent girl that remained brave and determined under circumstances so unpleasant that they're hard to imagine. I was surprised by how candidly Anne speaks ab'out sex and seeking independence from her parents - she couldn't have been less like the cleaned up, middle school appropriate" version I read about nearly fifteen years ago. It's hard not to love Anne, and even harder not to grieve for her and her lost potential. This is a must read book, in my opinion.

3. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream*
I wasn't able to properly moisturize my skin while I was suffering from fungal acne, but now that my skin has recovered, I'm really loving a layer of this rich yet lightweight moisturizer! Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream seems so simple at first glance, but it leaves my skin feeling so soft, plump, and dewy. So far my skin has been tolerating it really well, and I hope that continues, because I'm hooked on this moisturizer!

4. Pixi Real Red Mattelast Liquid Lipstick*
I'm not a fan of red lips or liquid lipsticks, so I think it's saying something that Pixi's Real Red Mattelast Liquid Lipstick has ended up in my favorites! This beautiful classic red liquid lipstick has a smooth, ever so slightly dry, but not drying, formula that makes it easy to apply in a single even coat. Pixi's Real Red has excellent longevity, it's smudge-free in my experience, and has minimal transference. I have mixed opinions on the Mattelast Liquid Lipsticks - some shades are good, others not so much, but Real Red is the best I've tried so far.

I recently discovered the Reductress via Twitter, and became hooked right off the bat. This The Onion-style site parodies women's magazines in the funniest and most relatable way. I often find myself reading the headlines aloud to Morgan or retweeting articles for friends to see. I don't really have anything to say about it, but I find it very entertaining.

Products marked with an asterisk (*) were sent to me as press samples. Their inclusion was not influenced by third parties.
