Out with the Old - July 2018 Empties

July was a massive month for me in terms of empties - I finished or decluttered 19 products. Nineteen! I feel like that's a considerable chunk of my collection! On a personal note, July was quite difficult for me - I received bad news about my mothers' health at the start of the month and kind of spiraled into sadness for a few weeks, hence the lack of posts. Things are looking up for my mum now, and I'm hoping to find motivation to write more posts. How have you been? Click through for a closer look at the products I tossed last month. As always, products I intend to repurchase will be marked with an asterisk (*).

My forever favorite sunscreen! This is Morgan's bottle that he kept at work, so I can't take any credit for this one. I feel like I've raved so many times about this affordable and pleasant to use sunscreen that I don't have anything left to say.

Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash Mascara*
I have a good track record of liking Make Up For Ever's mascaras, so I was excited to receive a sample of Excessive Lash in an Ipsy Bag. I loved this mascara! Just as the name implies, MUFE's Excessive Lash Mascara created bold, thick lashes in just a few swipes. I'm definitely considering picking up a full size of this mascara!

Bath&BodyWorks Frosted Cranberry Pocket Bac
Another glittery hand sanitizer gone from my collection. Bath&BodyWorks' Frosted Cranberry pocket bac managed to smell festive, fruity, and fresh all at once, but it's glitter particles were annoying and unnecessary. I won't be buying this scent again, unless it's offered in a glitter-free formula.

I was super excited when Palmer's launched their Coconut Oil Cleansing Balm and purchased it as soon as it hit the shelves, but I ended up not loving it. This cleansing balm felt fantastic on the skin, but it wasn't the best at removing heavy eye makeup. Once in a while I miss this little tub of cleansing balm, but not enough to buy it again - I need something with more makeup removing prowess.

Clinelle Pure Swiss HydraCalm Cleansing Gel
Clinelle's Pure Swiss HydraCalm Cleansing Gel was an average but enjoyable non-foaming cleanser. I don't have much more to say about it - it was such a simple product. I don't think I'd repurchase this cleansing gel, but it was definitely a good foray into Clinelle's offerings.

It seems like every skincare enthusiast loves Murad's Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Moisturizer, and for good reason! This dense, deeply hydrating moisturizer gave me gorgeous glowing, plump skin in a gentle, soothing formula. I have two gripes with this product though. First, the price - $130 for 50ml is completely out of my price range. Second, the amount of excessive, non-recyclable plastic packaging. No matter how much I like Murad's Hydro Dynamic Ultimate Moisturizer, I won't repurchase it based on those two factors.

It seems like everyone loves Maybelline's FitMe Matte+Poreless Foundation - me included! This foundation offers medium to full coverage with a natural matte finish. I bough the shade 110, which is an excellent match for me. I'm currently using two other foundations, but I'm fairly certain I'll repurchase FitMe in the future!

Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara sat on my wishlist for years before I finally bought it. I loved the gorgeous pink packaging and it's volumizing effects but this mascara flaked badly on me. I'm currently using a sample sized tube that I got in a Mecca Beauty Loop Box a few months back, but after that I won't be repurchasing this cult classic mascara - it just isn't for me.

Clark's Botanics Deep Moisture Mask
I received this moisturizing mask sample in an Ipsy bag and I was hesitant to try it - I'd heard from several friends that it stung their skin badly. Unfortunately, I ended up having the same reaction. Morgan, on the other hand, loved this mask and used it up for me. He found it very hydrating on his dry skin and enjoyed it's floral fragrance. However, he won't be shelling out over $200 to repurchase the full size. We'll be sticking to Sukin's Hydrating Mask instead.

Kat von D Lovecraft Studded Kiss Lipstick
I received Kat von D's Lovecraft lipstick as a gift about two years ago and honestly I never really liked it. While the black studded packaging is gorgeous and totally my aesthetic, the color doesn't appeal to me, and the formula had a dry, chalky drag to it that made it uncomfortable to apply and wear. I've finally decided to toss it amidst Kat's recent antivax/neo nazi controversies and I don't intend to use any more products from her brand. Fuck neo nazis and antivaxxers. If you subscribe to either (or both) mindsets kindly don't speak to me.

Another lipstick that I don't like that I've kept around too long. Maybelline's Lust for Blush was super popular a few years ago, and while I understand the hype it just doesn't suit me at all - it's far too cool for my fair warm skin and ginger hair.

La Roche Posay Serozinc*
La Roche Posay's Serozinc is a staple in the skincare community, so I couldn't help but be intrigued by but skeptical of this zinc infused water (I haven't been wowed by water in a can in the past). Surprisingly, I got great results from this mist! Serozinc was effective at reducing redness and itching, especially in my acne prone areas. While I don't think Serozinc is going to become one of my must-haves, I do miss having a can on hand when my skin is being fussy, so I think I'm going to repurchase it next time La Roche Posay is on a good offer.

Mizon Enjoy Vital Up Time Sheet Mask*
I've used several (four I think) of Mizon's Enjoy Vital Up Time Sheet Masks and really enjoyed them - I had photos and notes taken, ready to write a full review, only to find out that the brand was recently pulled from Mecca and seems to be rebranding or discontinuing their entire line, so for now my post will have to be shelved. For now, I'll say that this sheet mask is great for adding a quick boost of hydration, and at $2 each they're a cheap treat. If Mizon becomes easily available again in the future I'll definitely continue to buy this sheet mask.

Bath&BodyWorks Pineapple Mango Candle^
I picked this summery candle back in March when I was blessed with $200 worth of Bath&BodyWorks vouchers and went a little candle crazy. I picked out Pineapple Mango, per Morgan's request, and frankly we were both underwhelmed by this fruity candle - while it does indeed smell like pineapple and mango, it had very little scent through - I could burn it for hours in our little house and the fragrance would barely fill one room. The candle burned evenly and lasted months of intermittent use, but I would've preferred a stronger scent.

China Glaze For Audrey Nail Polish*
China Glaze's For Audrey has been my favorite nail polish for years! I believe this is my third bottle of For Audrey, and hopefully not my last. This cream finish Tiffany blue is gorgeous on fingers or toes in the warmer month, and the formula is excellent - opaque in a single coat and fairly chip resistant. China Glaze is pretty difficult to track down in Australia, so I'm going to ask my mum to pick me up a bottle of For Audrey. There's quite a gap in my nail polish lineup without it.

I love a classic red nail from time to time, and Nicka K's Ripe Apple was my go-to for a couple years - it was even the lacquer I chose for my wedding day! This shiny candy apple red is easily duped by Revlon's Revlon Red, which I'll be purchasing in place of Ripe Apple.

I used to use NYX' Glitzy Gold Slide On Eyeliner all the time, so it's surprising I still have a little nub of this gold pencil liner left. Clearly it was important enough for me to bring it with me when I moved to Australia, but I don't think I've used it once since then, so I'm tossing what's left. If I find myself craving a gold liner again in the future, I'll definitely choose Glitzy Gold again, but for now it doesn't have a place in my collection.

Batiste Luxe Dry Shampoo*
My monthly bottle of Batiste - no surprise here. I decided to give Batiste's newest scent, Luxe, a try and I loved it! The scent was more perfume-y and complex than most of Batiste's scents. Coupled with the gorgeous peacock inspired packaging, Luxe is a definite candidate for repurchase.

McArthur Skincare Hydrating Facial Cream^
McArthur Skincare kindly sent me several of their products last year, and I loved all of them - except this Hydrating Facial Cream. This moisturizer was just awful for me - it made my skin feel tight and it pilled up terribly no matter how little I used or what products I used with it. I ended up finishing it as a body lotion just to get it out of my collection. A lot of my peers enjoyed it, so maybe its just me, but I wouldn't repurchase this moisturizer.

What have you finished lately?
