Skyn Iceland Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels Review

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels Review
Skyn Iceland says "When you're run down and stressed out, the delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. In just ten minutes, this cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Eyes are revived, soothed and rejuvenated." The Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels are sold in a pack of 8 sets for $44AUD/$30USD. Four packs are available for $22AUD/$15USD respectively. I happened to receive a few packets from Ipsy. Skyn Iceland is a cruelty free, vegan friendly company. The Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels are made in Korea.

Skyn Iceland's Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels come to you in a zip top bag that contains eight individually wrapped sets of gel patches. The patches have a soft cloth top and a self adhering gel bottom that sticks to the skin pretty well and remove easily without pulling at the delicate under eye area. Unlike a lot of patches and sheet masks I've tried, I could still go about my business while wearing the Skyn Iceland eye gels - I could even wear my glasses while wearing these patches without any issue.
The Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels have an instant cooling feeling - I was surprised at how cold they felt! The coolness dissipates slowly over the course of the ten minute wear time. Even after these patches are removed my skin still felt cool to the touch. Now you may think it's a bit of a cop out for me to review depuffing patches, and I agree - at the ripe old age of 25 I don't suffer from any significant under eye issues. Puffiness is a rarity and I only have the finest of lines, if anything I'm more of a dark circle sufferer. While I can't fully vouch for Skyn Iceland's Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels' ability to depuff the under eyes, I can say that they do make an impact. Each application of these patches has left my under eyes looking and feeling smoother and firmer. The effects seem to last half a day or so, making the Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels a great pre-event product, or a nice pick-me-up the next day.

Skyn Iceland's Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels have a hydrating formula mostly comprised of water, glycerin, and olive oil. The next ingredient, angelica root extract, is fairly controversial because while it does offer antioxidant benefits, it's also a source of photosensitivity (increasing your risk of sun damage to your already vulnerable under eye). Further down the ingredient list you'll find soothing ginko and algae extracts, moisturizing jojoba oil, and antioxidant rich plant extracts like cranberry and thyme oils, as well as ceramides. An interesting addition is Perfluorodecalin, an ingredient that helps deliver oxygen into the skin by dissolving it into a more absorption-friendly form. I tend to question oxygen in skincare as it's harmful in large concentrations, and questionable at best in small dose - it's benefits are unproven. The remaining ingredients are simple and non problematic thickeners and preservatives - nothing to go too indepth about.
All around, I think Skyn Iceland's Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels are a nice way to treat yourself, or a quick fix for puffy eyes, but I don't think they're a long term solution for anything. If you suffer from chronic under eye issues these patches may be worth your money, but if you're just curious you're better off trying the travel sized pack, or skipping Skyn Iceland's Hydro Cooling Firming Eye Gels all together.
