Saturday Skin Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist

Saturday Skin, one of the most popular and widely available K-Beauty brands in the western market, describes their Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist as a "Refreshing and hydrating face mist that is a toner and essence in one and helps deliver moisture over and under makeup. Concentrated extracts of kiwi and grape quench and nourish, drenching skin in a veil of moisture. A toner and essence all in one that helps deliver nourishment and hydration over or under makeup. Formulated with Kiwi and white grape extract to help block free radicals and for instant vitality. Ideal for all skin types." This multi-purpose facial mist contains 130ml (4.4fl oz) and retails for $34US via Sephora and Peach&Lily, or $49.95AUD at Myer. Saturday Skin products are cruelty free and made in Korea.

I'm entirely engrossed by Saturday Skin's packaging. I'll admit it. I was sucked in by the millenial pink color and smooth, rounded shapes of the packaging. The full size of Saturday Skin's Daily Dew Mist comes in a pink bottle that bears the brand's logo in punchy white letters. I love the shape of the full sized packaging - it's reminiscent of a martini shaker, which is cute and cheeky without being over-the-top girly in the traditional K-Beauty style. My little travel sized bottle is equally adorable, and surprisingly functional! This facial mist's spritzer is fantastic - it releases a fine, even mist with every pump. The only downside? Packaging isn't recyclable.

I wasn't sure what to expect out of Saturday Skin's Daily Dew Hydrating Essence. I'd never tried an essence before, and I always viewed facial mists through a skeptical lens. I thought it'd be a fun product to try, but I didn't expect to love it the way that I do! Saturday Skin's facial mist can be used in a handful of ways - I primarily use it as a hydrating toner or as a setting spray - I'm not quite the kind of diva that mists during the middle of the day (though I wouldn't mind becoming one). Regardless of what I use this spray essence for, each application always results in glowy, bouncy, skin without a sticky or greasy residue.

On it's own, as a hydrating toner (or essence, if you're a K-Beauty enthusiast. I kinda think of them as the same thing. Feel free to educate me if I'm entirely wrong), I don't find the Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist to be particularly hydrating, as most of the beneficial ingredients evaporate away. Pairing this essence with a moisturizer really helps it meet it's full potential. A layer of facial oil or moisturizer will seal Saturday Skin's Daily Dew Hydrating Essence in, delivering lightweight hydration that plumps my skin up significantly. It's almost shocking how much of a difference this product makes - a few quick spritzes before my morning moisturizer leaves my skin looking healthy and radiant all day. If there was ever a short cut for achieving that coveted K-Beauty glow, it's this mist.

As a setting spray, Saturday Skin's Daily Dew is nice, but less impressive. This essence mist helps to reduce the appearance of powder on the skin; it somehow makes everything look just a little more blended, all while adding a dewy finish. I don't think that it has any effect on the longevity of my makeup, but it does help refresh the look of makeup that's been on for a few hours.

Saturday Skin's Daily Dew Hydrating Essence has a water, alcohol, and glycerin base. The high concentration of alcohol within this product can be initially off putting (I'm still iffy on it myself), but it's a matter of functionality really, without it this mist would take too long to evaporate. The formula is chock full of plant extracts and oils - mostly good ones, like apple, kiwi, strawberry, and grape, but there are a few I'd rather not see in my skincare as well, like lavender and rosemary oils. Among the several emollients and texture enhancers that make up the rest of the ingredient list, you'll find castor oil, hyaluronic acid, and a plethora of peptides. This essence mist is fragrance free and despite all the botanical extracts, it has no scent.

Saturday Skin's Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist took me by surprise! I didn't think that a facial mist could have so much impact on my skin! This multi-use mist is so plumping and hydrating, especially when used under a moisturizer. While I still don't think of them as an essential step in my skincare routine, Saturday Skin's Daily Dew has me really interested in trying more essences. If you're new to K-Beauty like I am, I think Saturday Skin is a great place to start. I definitely want to purchase a full size of the Daily Dew Hydrating Essence. I am impressed.
