Revlon Seduction Ultra HD Matte Lip Color Review+Swatches

Revlon is cashing in on the liquid lipstick trend with their new Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors. These liquid lipsticks are described as "lightweight, high definition matte color with a moisturizing, velvety feel." I didn't plan on trying Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors, but after seeing a handful of bloggers rave about them, I decided to pick up Seduction, which seems to be one of the more popular shades; seven other shades are also available. Each Ultra HD Matte Lip Color contains 6ml and costs between $8-10, depending on where you buy. Revlon is not cruelty free. This liquid lipstick was made in America.
I really like the look of the Ultra HD Matte Lip Color packaging! Revlon's new liquid lipsticks come in flattened, frosted tubes with silver caps - very sleek! The Revlon logo and product name are printed on the front of the tube, but the shade name doesn't seem to be indicated anywhere on the packaging. That's some poor planning, isn't it, Revlon? The Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors feature elongated, flat applicators that allow for precise and even application - I'm a big fan, but I feel like those with smaller mouths may find it a little unwiedly. Packaging is recyclable.
Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors have a thin, creamy formula that applies entirely opaque and even in one layer. Unlike most liquid lipsticks, Revlon's HD Matte Lip Colors don't dry down completely and remain a bit moist on the lips, making them prone to transferring off. Because these lip colors don't set, they aren't as long wearing as their more matte counterparts - on me, Seductive lasts about two or three hours, fading evenly without leaving a noticeable stain behind. Just because Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lip Color's don't set entirely doesn't mean that you can skip all the preparation a liquid lipstick requires - you should definitely exfoliate and moisturize the lips pre-application to keep this lip color from clinging to dry patches or settling into lines. The Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors have a delicious mango-vanilla scent and flavor.
Seduction is a gorgeous rosy beige, a great my lips but better color for me! The color may be beautiful, but don't let that distract you from the irony that Seduction, and the other seven shades of Revlon's Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors....aren't all. These liquid lipsticks all have a shimmer free cream finish that dries down to a distinctly non-matte, satin finish. I'm not sure what Revlon was trying to achieve here, surely the average consumer knows 'matte' when they see it, and the ain't seeing it here.
I like Revlon' Ultra HD Matte Lip Color formula, it's pigmented, easily applied, and far less drying than most liquid lipsticks. That being said, I think this product could be disappointing for a lot of customers - the Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors are far from matte, and by today's standards they're barely even a liquid lipstick, most would consider them a pigmented gloss. If one of the eight wearable shades calls your name, pick it up, I think you'll like it, but don't expect a long wearing, matte product.
