Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50 Review+Swatches

Exvuviance says "this weightless fluid blends effortlessly on clean skin, or layered under makeup in a daily skincare routine. Broad spectrum SPF 50 protects against photodamage, the primary cause of signs of aging. An ultra-fine transparent mineral sunscreen in a virtually invisible universal tint smoothes imperfections and helps natural skin tone appear more even. Multi-Antioxidants Vitamin E and Lactobionic Acid fortify skin’s natural defense, scavenging free radicals brought on by daily environmental aggressors before they can cause premature aging. A PHA/Bionic complex helps prevent collagen breakdown to maintain a healthy skin matrix and firmness, and helps prevent signs of photoaging such as lines and wrinkles. A highly purified and concentrated form of Green Tea Extract reduces cell breakdown and helps protect cellular DNA for healthy skin. PA++++ highest level of UVA protection. Suitable for all skin types." This tinted sunscreen contains 1.7 fl oz (50ml) and retails for $42 on NeoStrata's website, Ulta, or Dermstore. Exuviance does not test their product on animals. This product was made in the USA.
I've mentioned before that I love Exuviance's packaging style as a whole: their products look like they belong in a spa to me. Their design is always clean, appealing, and user friendly and the Sheer Daily Protector's packaging is no exception! This tinted sunscreen comes in an opaque, rectangular white bottle with a twist off cap. The product name, Exuviance logo, and some product information can be found on the front of the tube; directions can be found on the back. Packaging is recyclable.
Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector is pretty much the opposite of what you'd expect a sunscreen to be. When I think sunscreen I think of a thick white cream, but the Sheer Daily Protector is actually a watery, beige fluid. This tinted SPF is extremely thin, and needs to be shaken thoroughly to blend the ingredients and pigment before application. Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector sinks into the skin immediately, causing a short lived heavy, greasy feel that quickly dissipates and leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. While dry skin will probably want to layer the Sheer Daily Protector over a moisturizer, I think normal to oily skin will find this tinted sunblock adequately moisturizing on it's own. I haven't experience any breakouts while using this mineral sunscreen, but those with sensitivities may not have the same luck.

Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector has a fairly standard formula with a couple ingredients worth noting. This mineral sunscreen contains 7% titanium dioxide and 6% zinc oxide, which provide broad spectrum SPF 50 PA++++ protection, which is more than adequate for day to day wear! Aside from having the highest possible efficacy rating, this sunscreen also contains a handful of vitamins, and two forms of polyhydroxy (PHA) acids for gentle exfoliation. This sunscreen is fragrance free, and doesn't contain any truly problematic ingredients - all around a great formula.
Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector SPF 50
When I first received this product, I was a little taken aback by it's color! Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector is a light-medium shade that looked far too dark for my pale skin, but the color blends away to nearly nothing. The tint isn't substantial and provides next to no coverage, but it does make an impact on the skin, it just adds the slightest hint of warmth to my neutral leaning skin without being too dark. The Sheer Daily Protector's color universally flattering, not being too dark for my extra fair skin, and not too pale to give an ashy or washed out look to deep complexions. This tinted sunscreen has a slightly luminous finish. If you have great skin, or are feeling like having a low key makeup day, Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector is a great product to wear on it's own, but its good to know that it doesn't impact any makeup applied over it. I've paired this tinted sunscreen with nearly every foundation in my collection, and they all apply and wear well over it. The Sheer Daily Protector is also the ideal SPF product to reach for if you're being photographed, because despite the high SPF rating and inclusion of 7% titanium dioxide, it doesn't cause a white cast in flash photos.

Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector is fantastic! This tinted sunscreen provides excellent, high level sun protection in a lightly tinted, easy to apply formula - I'd go so far as to call it an ideal daily sunscreen, especially if you're on the go! I recommend the Sheer Daily Protector for all skin types (provided you're not sensitive to mineral sunscreens), for use on it's own, or to supplement moisturizers with little or no SPF built in. I'm headed to Sydney soon and you better believe Exuviance's Sheer Daily Protector will be in my bag!
