Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara Review

Marc Jacobs says their new Velvet Noir Mascara gives you "the thickest lashes in a blink. The lash-maximizing, curvy brush places the most volume at the hard-to-reach center lash line, and the defining tip styles lashes for major drama. The ultra-concentrated black pigment delivers the greatest visual impact, and the flash volume complex creates instant, smudge-free length and volume in three strokes or less." This volumizing designer mascara contains 9 grams of product and is sold exclusively at Sephora for $26. I was lucky enough to receive this mascara compliments of Influenster as part of a campaign. Marc Jacobs' Beauty is cruelty free. This mascara was made in Italy.
I love the aesthetic of Marc Jacob's makeup line, its so simple with it's black, white, silver color scheme and soft yet unusal shapes - its so lovely and chic! The Velvet Noir Mascara comes in a chunky, black, hexagonal tube that's completely plain, with the exception of the Marc Jacobs logo in silver lettering. The tube is quite attractive, but it does take up quite a bit of space in my mascara drawer, and it shows fingerprints like mad! On the up side, packaging is recyclable.

The Velvet Noir brush isn't anything innovative, but I do like it. This traditional bristle brush is approximately an inch long with an hourglass shape. The bristles are longest at the tip and base of the brush, and shortest in the center, where the brush nips in.

Trying and testing new mascaras is one of my favorite parts of blogging, so I was thrilled to receive Marc Jacob's Velvet Noir mascara! This luxury mascara's formula is on the wetter end of the spectrum, and the brush carries a lot of product, so Velvet Noir builds lashes up fast. Marc Jacob's newest mascara creates long, dark, incredibly thick lashes that look almost fake - I love it! Despite it's wet formula and soft finish, Velvet Noir holds a curl fairly well, though mine do droop by the end of the day. This mascara lasts pretty well on me, it doesn't smudge, and flakes very rarely (when it does, its minor). Removal is no problem at all, pretty much any cleanser or wipe can take away every trace of Velvet Noir.

Marc Jacob's Velvet Noir Mascara isn't for everyone, but I love it! Yinz know I love a full, dramatic lash look, and the Velvet Noir Mascara helps me achieve the look I want with very little effort. This beautifully packaged designer mascara doesn't disappoint, it provides the thick and dramatic lashes it promises, and lasts a full day without flaking or smudging. Though the $26 price tag is a bit prohibitive, I do think this mascara is splurge-worthy.

  1. Your lashes look amazing! If I didn't have a million mascaras to use up, I'd buy this in a heartbeat
