Tre'StiQue Kona Coffee Shadow Crayon Review+Swatches

Tre'StiQue says their Shadow Crayons are an "amazing 12 hour eye shadow" that offers "customizable color that you can build from a subtle wash to intense vibrancy. Super blendable with a crease free, smooth finish." These eyeshadow crayons are available in six shades, my review features Kona Coffee. Tre'StiQue's Shadow Crayons sell for $26, or you can choose three minis for $32. I received the Kona Coffee Shadow Crayon in an Ipsy Bag. Tre'StiQue is cruelty free and manufactures their products in the United States.
I like Tre'StiQue's packaging style; its cute, clever, and convenient. Every product comes in pencil format (kinda like NudeStix, I guess this is becoming a trend), and full sized products come with a built in applicator. The exterior packaging looks like a pencil - in fact, when I first got this Shadow Crayon I thought it had arrived without a cap and had dried out - it just looks so real! Unfortunately, the sleek and unique packaging isn't great quality, the cap has cracked up the side in two places, putting this cream shadow at risk of drying out. Packaging is recyclable.
Tre'StiQue's Kona Coffee Shadow Crayon has a dense, creamy texture that's easily blended with fingers or a brush - my preference is the Urban Decay Good Karma Crease Brush, but pretty much anything will be able to blend this malleable formula. This rich cream shadow packs a good bit of pigment, but Kona Coffee sheers out significantly when you blend it - but don't worry, the formula is very buildable so you'll be able to get a true to color look if that's what you desire. This cream shadow doesn't wear very well on it's own, whether you use a primer or not, it'll crease and fade after three or four hours. On the other hand, Kona Coffee makes a great base! This cream shadow holds powder shadows well, helping to boost their payoff without creasing for a full eight hours.

Kona Coffee is the color of a nice medium roast coffee - a rich, neutral deep brown. Blended out, this is a sheer, shadowy brown with marked grey undertones. At first glance, Kona Coffee appears to have a matte finish, but if you look closely, you'll see a few minute flecks of bronzey shimmer, but you won't notice them on the eye.

Tre'StiQue's Kona Coffee Shadow Crayon is good. This cream shadow is easy to work with and it offers good color payoff that ranges from a sheer coffee stained wash to fully opaque. Kona Coffee is a great staple shade, a chocolately matte brown that looks great on it's own, or paired with pretty much any neutral eyeshadow in your collection. Staying power and packaging could both be improved upon though. I'm not entirely sold on Tre'StiQue's Shadow Crayons, but I definitely want to try more from this brand!
