Cailyn Cosmetics Big Apple + Acid Pink Tinted Lip Balm Review+Swatches

Cailyn Cosmetics' Tinted Lip Balms "offer a gorgeous pop of color with stay power to truly give lips incredible intensity with a matte finish. Infused with advanced technology known as 3D Smart Film Former, it preserves color vibrancy without having to keep touching up lips. A handy built in lip brush ensures a seamless application with every use." Cailyn offers their Tinted Lip Balms in eighteen shades, today's review features Big Apple and Acid Pink. These Tinted Lip Balms sells for $19 for 4 grams of product; I received mine in an Ipsy Bag. Cailyn Cosmetics does not test on animals. This product was made in the USA.
I'm torn on this product's packaging - its convenient, but so ugly and hard to store. Cailyn's Tinted Lip Balm comes in a little round pot, topped with a tall, bulbous white cap, bearing the brand logo. A triangular lip brush is included in the cap - this brush is very easy to use and clean. The shade name and a full ingredient list can be found on the bottom of the pot.

Cailyn's Tinted Lip Balms are literally the opposite of what a tinted lip balm is. This is a dry, pigmented packed product that's best applied with the included brush. You'll definitely want to prep your lips before applying Cailyn's Tinted Lip Balms by exfoliating and moisturizing thoroughly. These "balms" go on with full opacity in one layer, at least when applied with a brush - these bright shades can be sheered out if applied with a finger. Both Big Apple and Acid Pink have serious staying power, lasting about four hours. This lip color doesn't transfer or slip, and it fades away unevenly, leaving behind a true to color stain that lasts another hour or two. Cailyn's Tinted Lip "Balm" is quite dry and just a little tacky on the lips - its tolerable, but I prefer to layer it with a gloss. These potently pigmented lip colors will cling to dry patches, flakes, and settle into lines - while the colors are vibrant, they do not make your lips look pretty. This product has no flavor, but just a bit of a slightly soapy scent,
Cailyn Cosmetics Big Apple Tinted Lip Balm Swatch
Big Apple is a slightly warm toned, true red with a satin matte finish. A great basic shade to have, it'll look great on everyone. If you want to give this classic color a glossier finish, it pairs really beautifully with Benefit's BeneBalm or The Body Shop's Strawberry Born Lippy.
Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm Acid Pink Swatch
Acid Pink is a cool, nearly neon hot pink. This color is not for the meek - its very, very bold! You're sure to turn heads with this aptly named shade. Acid Pink has a flat, matte finish that borders on powdery - it looks very dry on the lips.
Cailyn's  Tinted Lip Balms are good if you want a long wearing, opaque matte lip color. If you were hoping for a moisturizing, sheer tint of color....this isn't it. This product is terribly mis-named, but its not a bad. Packaging is both functional and hideous, but I like what it contains. Cailyn's Tinted Lip Balms are worth trying if you find a color that appeals to you...just use a real lip balm first.
