Pacifica Gun Metal Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil Review+Swatches

Pacifica's Natural Eye Pencils have a "long lasting, natural formula" that "provides hours of wear. Contains beneficial ingredients great for the sensitive eye area." These eye pencils are sold in four shades, my review features Gun Metal, which I received in an Ipsy Bag quite a while ago. Each of Pacifica's Natural Eye Pencils contains 2.8 grams (.10 oz) and sells for $11 at Target and Pacifica is cruelty free and vegan friendly. This eyeliner was made in the Czech Republic.

Pacifica's Natural Eye Pencils have attractive packaging! These wooden pencils have a white coating and color matched base. The Pacifica logo and a delicate abstract print are printed on the pencil in silver, it looks nice! This pencil sharpens smoothly, and comes to a precise, sturdy point.
This eyeliner was the first makeup product that I tried from Pacifica - a brand that I've come to trust for excellent body care products. I wasn't sure what to expect honestly, and I heard a lot of mixed reviews. Turn out, this pencil is merely alright. Pacifica's pencil eyeliner isn't very soft, but it apples fairly smoothly (but it doesn't really glide on the way I'd like). This eyeliner is easily smudged and blended for about half a minute after application. Gun Metal isn't very pigmented, but multiple strokes can build it up, at least somewhat. Don't even bother trying to apply this eyeliner to the waterline, it doesn't transfer at all. Despite Pacifica's claim that this eyeliner is waterproof and long wearing, it doesn't last very well on me. On the upper lash line, Gun Metal lasts about 5-6 hours before fading away; on the lower last line, this eyeliner doesn't get a chance to fade because its a smudgy, raccoon-y mess after four hours or so.
Gun Metal is described as a "pewter" shade. This is a light-medium grey that leans slightly cool toned. The satin finish contains a few flecks of silver shimmer that are barely visible on the eye. I'm not a big fan of this color for eyeliners, I don't feel like the color is flattering for my warm, pale skin, nor do I feel like this grey shade provides enough definition on my dark brown eyes.
Pacifica's Natural Eye Pencil in Gun Metal isn't anything special. The texture, longevity, and pigmentation are all pretty subpar. The packaging is nice, though - its the highlight of the product for me. If you're going to spend $10+ on a pencil liner at Target, buy a Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pencil instead, they're a buck more, but superior in every way.

  1. pacifica's makeup is definitely hit or miss. Their lipsticks and new target exclusive eyeshadow palette are everyyyythiiing! Though, I found their CC cream and other eye products to be a bit... 'meh'

    1. Thanks for the recommendations. I have literally heard not a single good thing about their BB or CC creams tbh.
