Sugarpill Buttercupcake Eyeshadow Review+Swatches

Sugarpill says their Pressed Eyeshadows are "richly pigmented, velvety smooth, luxury pressed eyeshadows for all night party wear." Twenty one shades are currently for sale, this review is for Buttercupcake, which I believe was one of the brand's first eyeshadows. Buttercupcake can be bought individually (3.5 grams/$12), or as part of their Burning Hearts quad ($34). Sugarpill is cruelty free, and most of their products (including Buttercupcake) are vegan. All Sugarpill products are made in California.

Sugarpill's single pressed shadows come in round little compacts with a black pan and a clear flip top that features the brand logo. The shade name is listed on a label on the back of the compact. My apologies for the lack of packaging photos, but all of my Sugarpill eyeshadows are housed in the Sugarpill Pro Palette (which is exclusively sold at IMATS trade shows).
So far, I've found Sugarpill's pressed eyeshadows to be really hit or miss - but I'm so pleased to say that Buttercupcake is one of the best that I've tried so far! I really didn't expect that, since yellow eyeshadows are almost always terrible. Buttercupcake is smooth, and dense with pigment - this is a powerful eyeshadow right here. This yellow shade blends really well, without losing it's potency. Buttercupcake does cause a bit of minor fall down, but a light color like this one is easily wiped away. I get great wear from Buttercupcake, it lasts a full eight hour day without creasing or fading - actually, it stains my eyelids a very unappealing color.

Sugarpill describes Buttercupcake as "the brightest bright matte yellow with awesome, opaque coverage." True! Buttercupcake is the perfect matte canary yellow! Not a color I have a lot of use for personally, but its a great basic, primary shade.
Sugarpill's Buttercupcake is fantastic! This is easily the best matte yellow eyeshadow I've ever had the pleasure of using! Not only does Buttercupcake have great payoff, it also has an easily blended, long wearing formula. I don't have a single negative thing to say about this eyeshadow. If you want/need a matte yellow eyeshadow - do yourself a favor and pick up Buttercupcake!
