Besame Brightening Vanilla Powder Review+Swatches

Besame's Brightening Vanilla Powder is a "velvety soft powder with yellow tint that helps control redness and has a delicate vanilla scent. Perfect for light to medium skin. Can be used repeatedly during the day to remove shine or set make-up without build-up. Wear it alone, over foundation, or around eyes to instantly lighten dark circles." The Brightening Vanilla Powder contains 6 grams (.21) of product and sells exclusively at Sephora for $22. Besame is proud to be cruelty free, and all of their powder products are suitable for vegans. This loose powder was made in the USA.

Besame's Brightening Vanilla Powder has fantastic packaging! This is one of the rare occasions that I love the exterior packaging just as much as the compact it's self! Besame's Brightening Vanilla Powder comes in a hexagonal cardboard box, the brand logo and a vanilla flower decorate the front of the box, the ingredient list is offered on the back. Inside of the gorgeous box is a cute, vintage inspired, yellow circular compact with a red twist off lid. The compact contains a well of product with a sifter, and a flip top to prevent spillage. Besame also includes a tiny little powder puff that's kinda precious to be honest. Packaging is recyclable.
Besame's Brightening Vanilla Powder has a lovely texture - its soft, lightweight, and finely milled. This powder has a light yellowy tint that's quite subtle on the skin, while still providing color corrective benefits. I've tried two of Besame's three Brightening Powders, and I have to say there's something really special about these loose setting powders - they have a very skin like, demi matte finish that helps to blur pores and other little imperfections, without providing any real coverage. Seriously, this powder is practically invisible on the skin - it never looks dry, cakey, or obvious. Besame's Brightening Powders really meld with the skin, or any foundation you set them with. I apply this loose powder in one of two ways, depending on how I choose to use it. If I'm setting my whole face with the Brightening Vanilla Powder, I like to really press it into the skin with a flat powder brush (the included puff works too!), but if I just want a light dusting under the eye, I opt for a wispy fan brush (Bdellium Tools' 925 is my favorite). This loose powder does very little for controlling oil, but it does prevent my under eye concealer from creasing. The Brightening Vanilla Powder has a faint vanilla scent to it, which is pleasant, but not really necessary.
Besame's Brightening Vanilla Powder is a translucent, pastel, buttery yellow with a demi matte finish. Yellow powders have become increasingly popular over the last couple years, for a few reasons (most of them are Kim Kardashian). These color correcting powders can serve a few purposes, so I'll try to cover them all. First off, is, as implied by the product's name, brightening the complexion -yellow powders diffuse discoloration, and give the complexion a more even, flawless look. Pastel yellows can also be used for targeted color correction - dust a little bit of the Brightening Vanilla Powder over redness to cancel it out, or buff a bit over your dark circles to help counteract their blueish tones. Yellow powders can also be applied to foundations that are a bit too cool toned or too pinky for you, to neutralise the shade. The Brightening Vanilla shade is fairly pale, and may look ashy on deep skins - but don't worry, Besame also offers a shade for deeper skin tones, called Brightening French Vanilla.
Besame's Brightening Vanilla Powder is a lovely product with a lot of uses! This fine loose powder will brighten, mattify, and color correct - its a real work horse! The yellow tone is faint, but it's enough to help camouflage discoloration. Not only is the product awesome, the packaging is also so elegant and functional! I definitely recommend the Brightening Vanilla Powder if you've been considering a yellow corrective powder, or you just want to try something a little bit interesting! Besame is an awesome indie brand, and I'd really like to try more of their retro themed products. If you haven't heard of this brand yet, you really do need to look into them!
