Sugarpill Velocity Eyeshadow Review+Swatches

Sugarpill says their Pressed Eyeshadows are "richly pigmented, velvety smooth, luxury pressed eyeshadows for all night party wear." There's a total of 22 shades up for grabs; today I'm reviewing Velocity. Velocity is available as a single shadow (3.5 grams, $12), or as part of the Heartbreaker Quad ($34). Sugarpill is cruelty free and most of their products are vegan friendly - Velocity included. This eyeshadow was made in the USA.

Sugarpill's single eyeshadows come in round, black plastic pans with a clear flip top that bears the Sugarpill logo. The shade name is printed on the back label. My pan of Velocity is included in the Sugarpill Pro Palette, so I can't provide packaging photos, sorry.
Velocity was such a let down for me! This pressed eyeshadow is ever so slightly dry and just a little bit powdery, causing a couple specks of fall out - but noting major. I can look past the minor textural issues because Velocity is loaded with pigment! Velocity packs onto the lids well, but it can be a little difficult to blend with other eyeshadows. Unfortunately, Sugarpill's Velocity Eyeshadow wears poorly on me. This bright blue shadow fades on me, and after just a couple hours its only half as bright. Velocity also creases on me after six or seven hours. I've tried this shadow with three different primers - Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion, NYX HD Eyeshadow Base, and ELF Eyelid Primer, and I experienced the same results each time.

Sugarpill describes Velocity as a "vibrant matte royal blue", which is pretty close to true. I wouldn't call Velocity a royal blue, so much as a bright, primary blue with a matte finish. There's not much else to say about this shade, its just a simple, basic blue. Sugarpill's Royal Sugar ChromaLust Loose Eyeshadow has a nearly identical base shade, but its loaded with glitter...and you know, a pigment. The blue in ELF's Punk Funk Quad is also quite similar, but not quite as bright.
I wanted to love Sugarpill's Velocity Eyeshadow, but its formula was just too problematic. The less than perfect texture isn't so bad, but I can't forgive Velocity's poor wear. This is such a gorgeous, bright blue, its a shame to see it reduced to a creased, muted, shell of it's former self half way through the way. For that reason, I can't recommend Sugarpill's Velocity Eyeshadow.
