NYX Conceal Correct Contour Palette Review+Swatches

NYX says "color match your skin using our perfecting and correcting palettes to conceal, correct, or contour. With six shades to choose from in each set, you can cover up problem spots, even out imperfections, and accentuate your best features in a flash! Use the buildable colors on their own, or combine them to create the ideal tone." NYX offers their Conceal Correct Contour palette in three shades; Light, Medium, and Dark. Of course, I'm writing about Light. Each Conceal Correct Contour Palette contains six 1.5 grams pans of cream concealer (a total of 9 grams) and sells for $12. NYX is cruelty free. This perfecting face palette was made in Taiwan.

NYX Conceal Correct Contour Palette comes in a plastic, rectangular compact with a clear flip top. The shade name and a full ingredient list can be found on the back of the palette. The six concealers are separated into three rows of two rectangular pans. The Conceal Correct Contour palette is relative compact, about the size of my hand, and not too thick, so its easy to store and travel with. This palette is recyclable.
All six NYX Conceal Correct Contour concealers are waxy yet emollient in consistency. They're quite stiff in the pan and can be difficult to pick up with a brush - its best to warm them up with your finger first. These concealers are best applied with fingers, or a flat, inflexible, synthetic brush, then blended out with the tool of your choice. All six creams, which can be mixed and matched any way you like, offer light to medium coverage that can be built up - though not without the risk of caking. Speaking of that, these waxy concealers are best applied over foundation, as opposed to under; I've found that it can cause some foundations to sit strangely on the skin. I've had variable wear with these products. The correcting and contouring shades last all day, no problem. The concealers, however, are hit or miss. They last a good seven hours if covering dark spots, acne scars, or dry blemishes, Over oilier, more active blemishes, NYX concealers are gove in just two or three hours, even if set with a power. The Conceal Correct Contour concealers don't crease or settle into fine lines and pores.
The Conceal Correct Contour Palettes contain three concealers, one contouring cream, and two color correctors. All six products have a natural finish.

Shade 1 is a neutral, fair flesh toned shade. This shade is a hair too dark for me, but it can work with a little mixing.

Shade 2 is a light skin toned color with golden undertones. This is the darkest of the three concealer shades. I rarely use it, as it doesn't match me well.

Shade 3 is a pastel yellow that can be used to brighten the skin, cancel out redness, and add more warmth to the concealers. It works fantastically well for correcting redness, better than most green correctors.

Shade 4 is a cool toned skin color. This is the lightest concealer, and the one I use most. This concealer is a bit too cool for me, so I usually mix in some of the neutral tone, or yellow corrector.

Shade 5 is a cool toned, deep brown with a grey tinge. This shade is great for contouring, once blended out it creates a very realistic, shadowy look.

Shade 6 is a light, peachy pink that can be used under the eyes to mask dark circles - which it does quite well, better than NYX's own Dark Circle Concealer. This pink corrector can also be used to cool down the warmer toned concealer.
NYX Conceal Correct Contour Palette is nice, but there may be a little bit of a learning curve for makeup novices. These concealers and correctors are dense and waxy, they take time to apply and blend. The correctors and contour shade are great, but the concealers can go either way - they cover dry blemishes and discoloration well, but aren't suited for fresher spots. Personally, I enjoy this concealer palette and I think its quite fairly priced! However, I don't think the Conceal Correct Contour Palettes are for everyone. If you were wondering if this a pro-kit item or a cheaper alternative to a MAC Pro Concealer palette, it isn't. If you're not particularly experienced with makeup, this face palette may be a little overwhelming - or a fun way to learn new techniques, depending on how adventurous you are! I think the Conceal Correct Contour is best suited for bloggers, amateur artists, and makeup enthusiasts. I'd really like to pick up the Color Correcting Palette as well.
