City Color White Gold Highlighting Mousse Review+Swatches

City Color says "Brighten your eyes and cheekbones with our radiant White Gold Shadow & Highlight Mousse. This smooth and creamy product is enriched with luminosity, providing a beautiful gold sheen finish. Its aggregate feature allows for the use as an eye shadow base as well as a highlighter." This little pot of illuminator contains 2.6 grams of product and sells for $4. I received this product in an Ipsy Bag. City Color is cruelty free. The White Gold Highlighting Mousse was made in China.

City Color's White Gold Highlighting Mousse comes in a little clear pot with a black cap. The product name is printed on the side of the container. A stopper is included to keep the mousse moist. Actually, packaging is pretty much identical to BYS Black Magic Eyeliner's packaging. This container is recyclable.
I've never really been one for makeup with a moussey consistency, and that holds true for this highlighter. City Color's White Gold Highlighting Mousse is a soft, whipped consistency that's initially easy to spread, but difficult to blend out. This mousse highlighter must be applied before any powder products to avoid an utter makeup disaster. City Color's White Gold Highlighting Mousse is not for the faint of heart - it is easily the most bold illuminator I've ever come across. The finish is intensely shimmery, glittery even - it'll catch the light like no other! The glittery, high shine finish and patchiness makes this highlighter very obvious and unflattering. Wear time was also poor, product began to break down after just four hours. So I gave up on using the White Gold Highlightin Mousse on my face and tried it on my eyes instead; with similar results. The smallest amount of the whipped highlighter was capable of causing chaos! It didn't matter if I used a primer or set it with a powder shadow, City Color's White Gold Highlighting Mousse would turn into a creasy mess within minutes.
White Gold is appropriately named, if anything! This highlighter is a strong, lovely silver that has a duochromatic gold flash. White Gold has plentiful, true white gold shimmer. To call the finish shimmery would be an understatement, its scintillating!
City Color's White Gold Highlighting Mousse is bad. This highlighter is difficult to blend and almost always looks uneven and splotchy. Pigmentation is intense and for once I mean that in a bad way. The white gold color is beautifully, but it's so overly packed with shimmer and glitter. The only way I can see this product working well is to use it as a body glitter, though it'll likely rub right off. I do not recommend City Color's White Gold Highlighting Mousse, unless you want a twinkling mess.
