September 2014 Ipsy Bag - Street Style

Sorry its just a little late, but I just got home from Sydney last night, and finally got a chance to open my September Ipsy Bag! September's bag, while not my favorite, is a huge improvement on August's bag, both in size of samples and in value. I was on the verge of canceling Ipsy, but September's bag helped to change my mind. If you're not familiar, Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends you a small bag filled with four to six beauty products, for just ten bucks! Ipsy sent out seventeen products from sixteen brands.

New Partnerships: Mitchell&Peach, Hikari, Avon, Beauty without Cruelty, Harve Benard, Harvey Prince, Maybelline, Sally Hansen

Repeat Partnerships: Alterna, Crown Brush, NYX, Pacifica, Cailyn Cosmetics, Be a Bombshell, Nourish Organic, Briogeo, LeeAni Eco

The bag was pretty nice in September. A metallic grey pouch with a black zipper and beige, canvas like lining. Four silver pyramid studs decorate the front of the bag. Much to my surprise, the studs are actually grommeted onto the pouch, not glued on, so they're sure to stay! I think this may be one of the rare Ipsy bags that I actually hold on to!
Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser
Deluxe Sample (30ml) - $2.33
  Full Size (177ml) $13.99

My Thoughts:
I haven't been impressed with Nourish Organic products in the past, but I love to try new cleansers. I haven't tried a ton of cream cleansers, so there's definitely some novelty here. The formula seems pretty thin compared to the cream cleansers I have tried, so I'm not sure how well it'll cleanse or moisturize. If anything, the packaging is lovely.

The Claims:
This gentle cleanser washes away impurities without drying, irritating or causing redness. Cucumber hydrates and soothes. Watercress, rich in antioxidants, helps protect skin from free radical damage. Alcohol-Free. Gluten-Free. Vegan.

• Fragrance-free formula cleanses without drying or irritating
• Penetrates deep into pores to dissolve dirt, oil and makeup
• Packed with vitamins and antioxidants to nourish skin

Mitchell and Peach Luxury Hand Cream
Deluxe Sample (30ml) $13.50
Full Size (60ml) $27

My Thoughts:
I've never heard of Mitchell and Peach before, apparently they're a British brand. I can never say no to trying a new hand cream, especially not one with such posh packaging. I can't say I love the scent, its very floral/herbal, lavender I suppose. I can look past the scent though, as the formula seems thick and rich.
The Claims:
This easily absorbed hand cream contains Vitamin E, shea butter and English honey to soften, nourish and protect the skin.

Cailyn Cosmetics Art Touch Lip Gloss - Love Affair
Full Size - $19

My Thoughts:I'm not wild about Cailyn Cosmetics, their products are mass produced and repackaged. That being said, this lip gloss is a gorgeous shade that I look forward to wearing this season. This is a deep, nearly burgundy red with a lovely translucency. It really is beautiful. Ipsy also sent out the shade Basic Instinct, a nude pink.

The Claims:
CAILYN Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss delivers the stunning color impact of a lip stain and high shine of a lip gloss. This silky smooth gloss glides on your lips like butter, leaving you with a lacquer like finish.

Pacifica Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil - Gunmetal
Full Size - $11

My Thoughts:
I like Pacifica, I like eyeliner. Sounds like a match made in heaven, but not quite. This pencil eyeliner is painfully average in texture and pigmentation. The interesting slate grey shade is what saved this pencil, in my opinion. A brown shade called Fringe was also sent out. The pencil received in the bag isn't quite full size, but close. I can't find the exact value of the pencil, so I'm regarding it as full size.

The Claims:
These rich water-proof, buttery smooth eye pencils glide on smooth and deliver big color pay off with every stroke. Long-lasting natural formula, provides hours of wear and contains beneficial ingredients great for the sensitive eye area.

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush
Full Size - $17.50

My Thoughts:
Easily my favorite item in September's bag, Crown Brush' Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush offers a soft, fluffy shadow brush on one end, and a very small "crease" brush, which is more of a pencil or smudger brush in my opinion. I'm just starting to delve into Crown Brush's range, so I'm excited to give this double ended brush a go.
The Claims:
This dual-ended brush offers the best of both worlds. The shadow brush is perfect for applying eye shadow or contouring the eye, while the crease brush is designed to be used dry for defining the eye, or wet for precision concealing.

The Offer:

Total Value of my September Ipsy Bag:

This is the best Ipsy Bag I've received in a long time! Its put me off canceling, at least for a couple more months. I'm particularly excited for the lip gloss and double ended brush, I think I'll get a ton of use from both. The only disappointment in September's bag is Pacifica's eyeliner. I even like the bag, which is rare for me. All around a good month for Ipsy!

  1. Welcome back! I received the same bag and flipping LOVE that brush! (Ipsy made an oopsy and sent me two so I gave one to my mom- shhh don't tell ;) )

  2. Thanks! You're lucky to get two of the brushes, but your secret is safe with me!

  3. I really liked the doubled ended brush too. I used it for travel and it was perfect since it's portable did dual duty. It is soft and feels great too and of a good quality. I liked my bag this month too. I thought the little metallic look bag with the studs was a good Sept. pick and it did say "Street Style" to me so it was quite an appropriate representation of the phrase.
