Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream Review

Mario Badescu says their Seaweed Night Cream will "hydrate your skin while you sleep." The brand goes on to describe the night cream as "lightweight and oil free. Elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid combine with the vitamins and minerals found in Bladderwrack extract to nourish dehydrated skin. The result is smooth, dewy, younger looking skin overnight." The Seaweed Night Cream contains 1oz and retails for $20. Mario Badescu products can be ordered from the brand's website, Ulta, and select salons and spas.

The Seaweed Night Cream comes in a simple white jar with a twist off lid. The Mario Badescu logo and product name are printed on the front of the jar. I'm not a fan of moisturizers in jar packaging, as a matter of personal preference, and because it isn't particularly sanitary or good for the stability of the product's ingredients.

Mario Badescu's Seaweed Night Cream is a thick, emollient, green cream. This night time moisturizer is kinda resistant to spreading over the skin, it balls up in an off way and really takes some effort to apply. Like many night creams, Mario Badescu's Seaweed Night Cream takes a while to sink in, and even then it leaves behind a slick film. This moisturizer is quite hydrating, it imparts a ton of long lasting moisture, leaving skin dewy and healthy looking. The brand claims that hyaluronic acid plumps the skin while collagen firms - and they both do that effectively, though of course the effects are short lived. This moisturizer is fragrance free, bu it has a light baby powder scent. So it sounds like the Seaweed Night Cream is shaping up to be a great moisturizer, and for many people it may be. This night cream is too much for my skin, it congests my skin and causes mild breakout and occasional oiliness.

I want to like Mario's Badescu's Seaweed Night Cream, but it just doesn't work out for me. Packaging could be improved upon - a squeeze tube is never a bad idea. This cream is difficult to apply evenly, but on the right complexion this moisturizer could yield great results. I wouldn't repurchase, but it could be work checking out if you have dry skin that needs a surge of moisture while you snooze.
