NYX Suede Collection Eyeshadow Palette Review+Swatches

NYX says "the next generation of our richest jewel inspired shadows has arrived. Our ultimate arsenal of shadows sparkle, shimmer, and illuminate with gorgeous results. We're sure you'll fall in love with this limited edition palette." The Suede Collection is an eight pan palette that contains a total of 13.6 grams of product and sells for about $12. NYX is cruelty free. The Suede Palette was made in China.

Though it looks nice, I'm not a big fan of the Suede Palette's packaging. This eyeshadow collection is housed in a grey cardboard palette. I'm not usually opposed to cardboard palettes, but this one feels very light and flimsy. The product name is printed on the flexible window of the palette's flip top. The Suede Palette stays shut with a magnetic closure. A full ingredient list and numbered diagram of the shades can be found on the back of the palette. The eight shadows are separated into two rows of four rectangular pans. Packaging is recyclable.
As a whole, I like NYX Suede Collection. All eight eyeshadows have great color payoff and are easy to work with - they apply and blend quite nicely. One or two of the darker shades cause a negligible amount of fallout. The shadows in NYX' Suede palette wear quite well; worn over a primer I've never experienced creasing, and only very minimal fading for up to nine hours of wear. My only complaint about these eyeshadow's formula is how much excess powder these shadows kick up. The gold shade is particularly guilty of infecting the surrounding shades. It should be mentioned that all eight eyeshadows are larger than your average full sized eyeshadow, they contain 1.7 grams each.
I think the NYX Suede Collection Palette is very well curated. There's a mix of finishes; from satins to frosts, to glittery, to straight up metallic.  The range of colors are also great. There's a good variety of of light, mid toned, and deep shades. While I don't agree that this is a jewel toned palette (only one is a jewel tone to me), I do think that they all work very well together. The color scheme would be particularly beautiful for fall, though I hate to assign products to seasons. No matter what colors you combine, the look always turns out gorgeous.
Shade 1 is a satin finish bone shade. This is a great underbrow highlight. This eyeshadow has surprisingly good color payoff, but is easily sheered out for a more subtle highlight. Also great for blending out the edges of any look.
Shade 2 is a light beige with a frost finish. Very small flecks of gold shimmer are subtly strewn through this shade. This shadow has light but buildable color payoff. This may be my favorite color in the Suede Palette, just for it's versatility.
Shade 3 is a strong yellow old with a metallic finish and intense color payoff. As I mentioned in the paragraph about formula, this shade has a crumbly texture.
Shade 4 is a lovely light copper color with a pretty metallic, almost foil like finish. I love this shade all over the eyelid. As you can probably see, I kinda ruined this eyeshadow by accidentally using it wet. Before this folly, this eyeshadow had strong pigmentation.
Shade 5 is another favorite, this is a deep, brownish olive with small flecks of both silver and gold glitter. This shade has potent pigmentation, and is an absolutely beautiful and uncommon color.
Shade 6 is a chocolate brown with small but plentiful gold glitter particles. This is the only shade in the NYX Suede Collection that has textural issues, its slightly drier and less pigmented than the other seven shadows. All that being said, this is still a decent, workable eyeshadow.
Shade 7 is beautiful, the only true jewel tone in the Suede Palette. This is an amazing, rich, blackened teal with a (fittingly) suede like finish. Pigmentation is incredibly rich, this is a true gem
Shade 8 is a mahogany shade with strong red undertones and quite a lot of golden glitter. Much like the beige shadow (Shade 2), Shade 8 doesn't have the strongest color payoff, but it can be built up.
NYX Suede Collection is a beautiful, well coordinated eyeshadow palette. Overall the quality is fantastic. The richness of the colors would make this palette particularly beautiful on deep skin tones. These eyeshadows are a little powdery in the pan, but they all perform well on the eyes. My only complaint is the quality of the packaging. For $12, the NYX Suede Collection Palette is a steal! Snatch this gorgeous, limited edition, and budget friendly palette before its gone!
