Cynthia Rowley Beauty Black Eyeliner Review

Fashion designer Cynthia Rowley has a small, Birchbox exclusive makeup line. Her pencil eyeliner is described as "luxe, cream liner" that "delivers bold color that lasts and lasts." These vegan friendly pencil eyeliners are available in five colors, today I'm reviewing the black shade. These pencil liners contain .04 oz and cost $16 each. Cynthia Rowley Beauty is cruelty free. This eyeliner was made in Germany. This designer beauty brand is exclusively available through the Birchbox Shop.

Usually there isn't much to say about pencil eyeliner packaging, but Cynthia Rowley's eyeliner is kinda cute. This black wooden pencil and it's cap feature a metallic gold polka dot print. The Cynthia Rowley logo and product name are printed on the pencil in gold lettering. This pencil sharpens with exquisite smoothness.
Cynthia Rowley Beauty's Eyeliner has a nice texture that's comparable to that of Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eyeliners. Not super creamy, but it still glides right across the eyelid and waterline. Cynthia Rowley's Black is deep and inky, darker than my swatches show. This eyeliner is well pigmented, though you may need two swipes on the waterline, depending on how watery your eyes are. This deep black has a matte finish. Cynthia Rowley's eyeliner is fairly smudgeable immediately after application, but it sets in about half a minute. I get above average wear from this pencil, it lasts about five hours on my waterline, and up to ten hours on the lash line with no smears or fading. While there's no mention of this pencil being waterproof, it kinda is. The swatches on my hand have stayed put through multiple washings. This eyeliner can put up quite a fight when it comes to removal - I recommend a cleansing oil or oil based makeup remover.
Cynthia Rowley Beauty's Eyeliner is surprisingly awesome. This deep, matte blak pencil is quite pigmented. The smooth formula is easy to apply and it wears very well, even in humid weather. Packaging is cute, but functional. Sixteen bucks is a little pricey for a black pencil liner, you're mostly paying for the Cynthia Rowley name, though you're getting a good quality product for the money too. If you don't have access to the Birchbox Shop, or you don't wanna lay down $16 for a pencil eyeliner, Urban Decay's 24/7 Eyeliner ($20) or Covergirl's LiquiLine Blast ($8) are similar. I'm happy to have tried Cynthia Rowley's Eyeliner, its a great product, and I'll use it up, but its unlikely that I'll repurchase.

  1. It certainly looks pretty beast with your purple mascara! The price is a bit steep though, so I'm going to pass.
