Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer Review

Too Faced says "go head, indulge yourself. You won't add pounds when you dip into our anti-oxidant rich, cocoa-licious, zero calorie bronzer, just an irresistible, all over deep tan." I've heard so much great stuff about the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, mostly from EmilyNoel83, one of my favorite YouTubers, so imagine how pleased I was to pull it out of my May Ipsy Bag. The full size of this chocolate laced bronzer contains 10 grams (.35 oz) and retails for $30. Too Faced is cruelty free. This bronzer was made in the USA.

My deluxe sample of Too Faced's super popular Chocolate Soleil Bronzer came in a black cardboard and plastic compact with the Too Faced logo on the front. A full ingredient list and brief product description are printed on the back. The full sized bronzer comes in a lovely, detailed, gold compact with the Too Faced logo embossed on the flip top.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer has an awesome, densely pressed, velvety texture. This bronzing powder is very soft, yet it kicks up almost no excess powder. This bronzer is very easy to work with, it transfers well onto a brush. The Chocolate Soleil bronzer is very blendable. Too Faced's bronzer is richly pigmented, it can be built up to opaque, intense color, or sheered out for just a hint of a tan. Wear time is good, usually a full eight hours, but like most bronzers, Chocolate Soleil's longevity is effected by whatever base product it's applied over. One of Chocolate Soleil's claims to fame is it's chocolate scent - which is surprisingly strong and realistic; much more potent than the supposedly chocolate scented Bourjois Delice de Poudre bronzer.
Chocolate Soleil was pretty intimidating at first - this is by far the darkest bronzer in my collection. Applied carefully and sheerly with a big, fluffy brush, Too Faced's Chocolate Soleil can work on my fair skin. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil is a slightly warm milk chocolate brown with a semi-matte finish. The not-quite-so matte finish is absolute perfection, and combined with the slight warmth of the shade, this bronzer gives the look of a real tan. Because Chocolate Soleil is basically matte and mostly neutral, its a good option for contouring - though I still prefer the lighter, greyer toned Hoola for that purpose.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer is great! The texture is very smooth, making it a breeze to blend. Color payoff is customizable - it can be sheered out or built up. The semi matte finish really suits the shade. Chocolate Soleil is a little deeper than I'd prefer. If I were to purchase a full size of this bronzer, I'd go for the lighter Milk Chocolate option. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer definitely deserves it's cult classic status, its an all around awesome product that I totally recommend.

  1. I'm so jealous you have a sample size of this! Chocolate Soleil has gotten so many raves, I'm just trying to imagine the scent and texture across from cyberspace :) x

    1. Apparently this sample is available as a Sephora point perk, so maybe you can snag one!
