My First (and Last) Birchbox - May 2014

In the past I've been really curious about Birchbox (we're talking way back, in the pre-Ipsy days) but I never subscribed. Over time, the quality of this monthly subscription box has gone down hill in a major way. I saw a coupon code for a half priced box, so I took advantage of it. My expectations were low, and as expected I was pretty disappointed, so I went ahead and canceled. Click through to see what was in my box.

There was literally nothing exciting in this box. On top of these products above, there was a coupon for $25 off a $75 Kate Spade purchase.
 Gilchrist+Soames London Collection Body Lotion - 45ml ($2.25~), Full Size 235ml ($16)
This lotion is very light and silky, it kinda reminds me of a Crabtree&Evelyn lotion I received as a gift once. The scent is quite neutral and light. The packaging looks pretty ritzy too. I like it.
Harvey Prince Hello Perfume Sample (Full Size $55)
Ugh, tiny little perfume samples. I won't complain though, cause I actually love how this perfume smells. The brand lists it's main notes as meyer lemon, forsythia, and plumeria - and I happen to be a lemon and plumeria fan girls. I'll definitely use this perfume sample.
Beauty Protector Heat Protector and Detangler 30ml ($2.75), Full Size 235ml ($22)
This heat protecting spray went straight into my giveaway/blog sale basket, I just don't need a product like this.
 Supergoop! SPF 30 Everyday Sunscreen 10ml ($2.75~) Full Size 70ml ($19)
This sunscreen sample is super small, enough for no more than three uses. I'll use it, but this is a dull sample to receive.
Cynthia Rowley Black Eyeliner .3 oz ($12), Full Size .4oz ($16)
Cynthia Rowley's makeup line is exclusive to Birchbox. This eyeliner seems to be good quality, its well pigmented and has a smooth texture. This pencil liner is the only product with decent value.
Total Value:

Of the five products, only two piqued my interests, and only one had significant value. Without the Cynthia Rowley eyeliner, this box had a value of just $7.75, which is ridiculously low. Luckily, I only paid $5 for this box.
