Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion Review

Mario Badescu calls their Special Cucumber Lotion a "refreshing, disinfecting, and deep cleansing astringent that is effective for drying up exisiting acne blemishes while preventing new eruptions. Sulfer and soothing cucumber based, acne fighting formula that is non-drying and non-irritating". This toner is available in three sizes - 8 oz ($15), 16 oz ($26) and 32 oz ($45). I received a generous sample of the Special Cucumber Lotion. Mario Badescu does not test on animals.

The Special Cucumber Lotion comes in a clear, round squeeze tube with a white twist cap. A label is affixed to the front of the bottle, featuring the product name and Mario Badescu logo. My sample's packaging is quite leaky, but packaging is otherwise well designed.

Mario Badescu's Special Cucumber Lotion is a watery, translucent, acid green liquid. The ingredients in this toner are simple but not particularly beneficial to th skin. This toner is a blend of alcohol and sulfer, which are pretty dang irritating. This toner burns my skin upon application. The Special Cucumber Lotion is effective for absorbing excess oil, I will give it that much. I have a bit of acne, and I think this toner irritates it more than heals and cleans it. The unpleasant tingle of this toner lasts several minutes after use. The Special Cucumber Lotion has a strong but sweet alcoholic scent that's super unpleasant.

I definitely do not recommend Mario Badescu's Special Cucumber Lotion! This product is highly irritating. The brand suggests their Special Cucumber Lotion for combo to oil skin, but in my opinion it isn't appropriate for any complexion.
