Elizabeth Mott Pearl Smooth Shadow Pencil Review

Elizabeth Mott calls their Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencils "the ultimate gel pencil that's smooth like butter and lasts all day without smudging. These velvety pencils glide on with ease and contain just enough shimmer. Smooth Shadow Pencils are also waterproof and perfect for taking your look from day to night. A must have for all color lovers." Elizabeth Mott offers three shades of their Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencils - my review features Pearl. These eye pencils contain 1.5 grams (.05 oz) and retail for $14.99. I received a half size of this pencil in an Ipsy Bag. Elizabeth Mott does not test on animals. This eyeliner was made in South Korea.

Elizabeth Mott's Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencils arrive in nice pink boxes. The brand logo and product name are printed on the front of the box in white letters. A full ingredient list can be found on the back of the box. The pencil is made of black lacquered wood with color matched caps and bases. The name is printed on the side of the pencil. These pencils sharpen smoothly.
I have very mixed experience with this eyeshadow pencil. Used as an eyeliner, at least on my lower lash, Elizabeth Mott's Smooth Shadow Pencil in Pearl applies wonderfully, gliding on and laying down the perfect amount of color. However, if used for it's intended purpose as an eyeshadow crayon, its awful. Elizabeth Mott's Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil has a crumbly, slightly dry texture, causing it to drag across the mobile lid. During this uncomfortable and difficult application, the tip almost always snaps off. Pearl's color payoff is quite good. As promised, this eye pencil is smudge-proof, but that doesn't mean it has flawless wear. On the eyelid, Elizabeth Mott's Pearl is prone to creasing. When worn on the lash line, the base color stays in place nicely, but the glitter particles travel around.
Pearl is actually a lovely color. This is a soft, warm beige with plentiful silver shimmer particles. The beige base color is semi opaque, it can be layered for more color, or sheered out. Worn sheerly, Pearl looks like a wash of soft glitter. Elizabeth Mott's Pearl is a gorgeous color for the inner corner.
Elizabeth Mott's Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil in Pearl is a pretty, shimmery beige eyeliner. It's textural issues make it too much of a hassle to use as an eyeshadow. Rimmel's Bulletproof Beige Eyeshadow Crayon is a good substitute, but not a dupe. I think this is a decent eyeliner, but personally I wouldn't pay fifteen bucks for it.
