City Color Fresh Melon Be Matte Blush Review

City Color is a new brand to me. I feel like I've heard of the brand in passing somewhere, but I hadn't tried any of their products before receiving their Be Matte Blush in my February Ipsy Bag. City Color says their Be Matte Blushes are "silky smooth, highly pigmented blush" that "compliments and blends evenly with your skin's natural glow. Extremely buildable to create a subtle or dramatic look." City Color offers a selection of eight shades, I'm reviewing Fresh Melon. The Be Matte Blushes are huge - they contain 8.9 grams (.31 oz) of product and retail for just $2.99. City Color is cruelty free. This blusher was made in China. This ultra affordable beauty brand is available at select Rite Aids, as well as on the brand's website.

City Color's Be Matte Blushes come in round, black plastic compacts. The flip top is mainly clear, with the company logo and product name printed on it in bold black lettering. The shade name and full ingredient list can be found on the back of the compact. While I like the look of the packaging, and think its functional and easy to store, I can't help but feel like the compact is a little flimsy. City Color's blush packaging is recyclable.
[see dat kick up?]
Wow. Just wow. City Color's Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon is absolutely packed with pigment. It's insane! I have to apply this potently pigmented blush with a fan brush (I use Bdellium Tools' Duet Fiber Fan Brush), otherwise it goes on far too intense for my fair skin. This powder blush blends very well. In the pan, Fresh Melon feels exceptionally smooth, yet it kicks up a surprising amount of excess powder. I get solid wear from City Color's Fresh Melon Be Matte Blush, it can put in a full eight hours with minimal fading. My only real complaint about the Be Matte Blush formula is how heavily fragranced it is - it has a strong, grandmotherly, powdery floral scent that doesn't linger on the skin - still its unnecessary.

Fresh Melon is a gorgeous bright warm coral that leans strongly to the pink end of the spectrum. Applied softly, it gives my skin such a healthy flush! If you hadn't inferred from the name, this blush has a completely matte (but not flat) finish. The velvety matte finish gives Fresh Melon a very skin like finish. Fresh Melon is a great blush for spring and summer, and will suit a majority of skin tones.
I was pleasantly surprised by City Color's Fresh Melon Be Matte Blush! For just three bucks you get an intensely pigmented, long wearing blush - and you get A LOT of it for just a couple bucks! Application is a breeze - though I highly suggest a light hand and a wispy brush! Fresh Melon is a beautiful, flattering coral pink that I'll be reaching for often in the summer months. My only trouble is the unneeded fragrance and the excessive powder kick up, but I can over look them. These wallet friendly blushes are definitely worth checking out. I'd really like to get better acquainted with City Color as a brand!
