Mario Badescu Kiwi Face Scrub Review

Mario Badescu's Kiwi Face Scrub is "made with real kiwi seeds and soft bits of seaweed to naturally slough away surface dullness to uncover softer, smoother skin. Kiwi seeds gently bugg away dead skin cells while natural AHA's breakdown dull build up to prevent blackheads and improve overall texture." The Kiwi Face Scrub contains 4 fl oz (120ml) and retails for $15. Mario Badescu products are not tested on animals. Mario Badescu products can be ordered through the brand's website, or bought at Ulta and a handful of spas and salons.

The Kiwi Face Scrub comes in a white plastic tub with a screw off cap. The product name and Mario Badescu logo are printed on the front of the jar in green lettering. An ingredient list and product information can be found on the back of the jar. Packaging is recyclable.
Mario Badescu's Kiwi Face Scrub has a creamy, bright green base with a few real kiwi seeds strewn through it. Can I just ask...exactly what is this product supposed to do? Because it sure doesn't exfoliate, nor does it seem to cleanse. The Kiwi Face Scrub's seeds are pretty rare 0 I only get three to five seeds per application. The kiwi seeds don't feel like they're exfoliating my skin, so much as scratching it; not that only a couple seeds would be effective for exfoliating anyway. This scrub is supposed to contain AHA's (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) to provide chemical exfolation as well - but the funny thing is - Mario Badescu's Kiwi Face Scrub doesn't actually offer any form of AHA. That's awkward. I suppose the kiwi extract may provide the smallest dose of AHA, but no where near enough to be effective. The Kiwi Face Scrub has a light, slightly sour kiwi scent.
Wow, what a bad first impression of Mario Badescu's products. The Kiwi Face Scrub doesn't do much of anything. The few kiwi seeds don't actually exfoliate. What bothers me the most is that Mario Badescu lies about the ingredients- there are no significant levels of AHAs in this scrub. According to the very dependable Paula's Choice reviews, this is a common issue with this brand. I do not recommend Mario Badescu's Kiwi Face Scrub - I'm very displeased with this product.
