Urban Decay Original Primer Potion Review

Urban Decay's Primer Potion is "the most legendary primer in the beauty industry. Eyeshadow Primer Potion is coveted by makeup artists and makeup junkies alike because it guarantees more vibrant eyeshadow that lasts for 24 hours and NEVER CREASES! Once you experience it's powers (plus how smoothly it glides on - an added bonus) you'll never want to be without it." Urban Decay offers their Primer Potion in four shades - this review is for the colorless Original Primer Potion. Urban Decay's full sized eye primer contains 11ml (.37 oz) and retails for $20. Mini tubes are also available for $9, containing 7ml (.13 oz). Urban Decay products are not tested on animals. Primer Potion is made in America.

Urban Decay's Primer Potion is available in two styles of packaging. The full sized primer comes in a squeeze tube, the mini versions come in a hard plastic tube with a bent doe foot applicator. Both styles of packaging feature a unique grey cap, with the product name written on the container in purple lettering.
The Original Primer Potion is a light flesh tone that blends away to be colorless. The consistency of this eyeshadow primer is light and creamy, extremely easy to work with. Primer Potion dries down to have a slightly tacky texture that really helps powder eyeshadows adhere to the eyelid, while smoothing the texture of the eyelid at the same time. Despite being slightly sticky, Urban Decay's Primer Potion doesn't make application or blending difficult - rather the opposite in fact. Urban Decay's Original Primer Potion boots color payoff significantly. I didn't have high hopes for this primer for preventing creasing. I had a pretty poor experience with Urban Decay's Sin Primer Potion. Fortunately, the Original formula worked so much better for me! This eye primer prevents creasing and fading for up to ten hours, even in the hot greasy kitchen I work in.
Urban Decay's Original Primer Potion is great - its cult classic status is 100% well deserved. The formula of this high end eyeshadow primer is all around excellent - it smooths the eyelid, increases any color's intensity, aids in application and blending, all while extending wear time. What else can you ask for? A smaller price tag, probably, but honestly I think Primer Potion is worth every penny of the full price. I'm running out of eyeshadow primer samples and I'll definitely consider investing in a full sized tube (though I might opt for the equally amazing Too Faced Shadow Insurance). If you're late to the game like I was and haven't tried this awesome eye primer yet - do yourself a favor and change that. I definitely recommend the original Urban Decay Primer Potion.

  1. Best. Eye primer. Ever!

    1. I don't know if I'd go that far, but this stuff really is awesome!

  2. I haven't used UDPP in a long time, because I seem incapable of buying the same one twice, but it is still one of the best I have tried!

  3. This looks like a sultan's palace tower.
