Nicka K Ripe Apple Nail Color Review

Nicka K calls their Nail Colors the "answer to every manicurist's dream. These quality polishes come in 44 on-trend variations and are available in opaque, sheer, shimmer, bright, and vampy shades. The exceptional formula will glide across your finger nails with minimal effort for vibrancy that is not only dazzling but long lasting." These lacquers are DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde free. I hadn't heard of Nicka K before receiving their Ripe Apple Nail Color in my December Ipsy Bag. Each Nicka K Nail Color contains .5 fl oz (15ml) and retails for $4.99. Nicka K products are not tested on animals. This polish was made in the USA. Nicka K products can be purchased through the brand's website (international shipping is not available).

Nicka K's Nail Colors have pretty fancy packaging. The pear shaped glass bottles are topped with a tall bronze cap. The Nicka K logo is embossed on the base of the cap. An ingredient list can be found on the bottom of the bottle. Oddly enough the shade name and number are nowhere to be found. Nicka K's Nail Colors feature a slightly rounded brush that's average in length and width.
Nicka K's Nail Colors have a surprisingly awesome formula! Ripe Apple's formula has an average consistency. As promised, this polish applies smoothly and evenly. Ripe Apple is almost opaque in one coat, fully opaque in two. This lacquer has pretty standard dry time, about a minute per coat. I get awesome wear from this nail polish! Nicka K's Ripe Apple wore for four days with only a few little chips. I know four days doesn't sound that impressive, but please keep in mind that I'm pretty rough on my hands and rarely get more than two days from most lacquers. Ripe Apple is easy to remove, but it will stain your nails pink if you skip base coat.

I thought Ripe Apple was going to be a run of the mill red, a la Revlon Red or Nailtini's Bloody Mary. Turns out this red has a little more depth to it, and I don't mean that figuratively. Ripe Apple is still pretty much a classic red, just two or three shades deeper. This red has a rich, vampy quality to it without being too dark. The name Ripe Apple is just so fitting. Nicka K's Ripe Apple has a very glossy cream finish that never seems to lose it's glossiness.
[its a little darker than this.]
Nicka K's Ripe Apple Nail Color is beautiful in both color and formulation. This rich red applies wonderfully and wear well on my often abused nails. I have no complains what so ever about this nail lacquer. I'd like to compliment the brand on their unique and interesting bottle design as well. I'd really like to try more of these polishes, but I so rarely get to wear nail polish. I definitely recommend Nicka K's Nail Colors, they're affordable and available in lots of lovely colors, and the formula is fantastic. This is one of my favorite Ipsy finds of all 2013!
