Julep Pomegranate Body Scrub Review

Julep says their Pomegranate Body Scrub will allow you to "exfoliate an moisturize in one simple step. Anti-oxidant pomegranate extract and hydrating shea butter salt scrub will refine, brighten, tone, and heal. Your skin will be soft and radiant from head to toe." In my opinion, Julep really knows how to make a good scrub, so I was very excited to try this. The Pomegranate Body scrub contains 4 oz (113g) and sells for $18. I received this scrub in a swap. This body scrub is mostly natural and paraben free. Julep is a cruelty free company. The Pomegranate Body Scrub is made in the USA.  Julep products can be bought through the brand's website, at the four Julep Nail Parlors in Washington State, and in a limited selection at Sephora. Julep also offers a monthly subscription service that offers 2-3 full sized products for $19.99/month. This is the most affordable way to sample Julep's wares.

Packaging for this body scrub is very nice. A round, shallow, clear plastic jr with a black screw on lid. A label wraps around the jar, featuring the product name and Julep logo. A product description, directions, and images of pomegranate arils can be found on the label. A full ingredient list is offered on the bottom of the jar. All packaging is recyclable.
Julep's Pomegranate Body Scrub is different from pretty much any other scrub I've used. This scrub, which features salt as it's exfoliating component, has a base comprised of shea butter, vegetable glycerin, and coconut oil. Those ingredients come together to create a very moisturizing, but also very solid body scrub. Julep's Pomegranate Body Scrub isn't very...scrubby. I fail to feel a noticeable amount of exfoliation. It seems as though this body scrub kinda just melts into the skin, leaving it feeling soft and kinda oily. This feeling leads the user to believe they've exfoliated, when really they've just moisturized thoroughly. On the plus side - you definitely don't need a lotion afterwards. Julep's Pomegranate Body Scrub's softening effects last about a day. By the way, this scrub smells awesome. Julep calls it a "cranberry-pomegranate fragrance" which is accurate. I really do like the scent - fruity but not at all artificial. The scent is very light and does not linger on the skin.
[note the texture]
Julep's Pomegranate Body Scrub is nice if you want gentle exfoliation and intense moisturize. Personally, I prefer something a little more gritty and a little less greasy. The texture is really interesting, almost paste like. Those with dry, sensitive, or easily irritated skin would enjoy this luxuriously moisturizing, barely abrasive body scrub. I wouldn't repurchase this body scrub - though I am very grateful to have received it (it makes a wonderful gift!). Like most Julep products, this body scrub is overpriced, especially for the small amount you get, but at least you're getting good quality ingredients. This body scrub is currently marked down to a much more reasonable $6.99, so if you're interested in Julep's Pomegranate Body Scrub, now is the time to buy!

  1. A body scrub that doesn't scrub seems useless to me. I bet it smelled wonderful though.

    1. I don't know if I'd call it useless, persay. It serves purpose, just not the one it's intended to.
