Mirabella Eye Colour Eyeshadow - Semiformal- Review

Mirabella offers an "array of intense shimmer, sheen, and matte pressed mineral eyeshadows". A total of 36 shades are available, I have the color Semiformal. This shade has a "sheen" finish. Mirabella's eyeshadow formula is talc, paraben, gluten, and fragrance free so this eyeshadow line might be a good option if you have sensitive skin or eyes. Mirabella says that their formula gives smooth application for "beautiful, pure color". Mirabella is another one of those brands that I've been aware of for a while but I've never really heard much buzz about them or seen reviews for their products. This brand seems kinda elusive, they don't offer much information on their website, I can't even find any animal testing policy. I don't think you can buy Mirabella products anywhere except the brand's website but I could be wrong. I can tell you that this eyeshadow was made in America. I received my Semiformal eyeshadow in September's Ipsy bag. This shadow contains 2g (.07 oz) and retails for $10.
Mirabella's Eye Colour Eyeshadows are sold in pan form. I hate pan for eyeshadows, they seem so inconvenient to me, though I guess they're good for pros and what not. Each pan comes in a white and red cardboard envelope with a window on the front making the shadow visible. A full ingredient list can be found when you open the little envelope. Its a good temporary home for the product, but when it comes to finding it a safe place to stay, I recommend an ELF quad. I need to go out and get one for this shadow. The eyeshadow comes in a silver metal can that will pop into any magnetized palette and should fit into an ELF quad like I mentioned, a MAC palette, and of course a Z palette. The pan has the name and number of the shade printed on the back, which is nice. The pan, though it doesn't contain the same amount, is equal in size to both MAC's pro pans and ELF's custom shadows. If you're not familiar with those product's size, they're about the size of an Australian dollar and a little larger than an American quarter.

Semiformal is a warm tan shadow with a pretty strong red tinge to it. In the pan and in a dense swatch Semiformal has gold shimmer, but when blended out the shimmer almost entirely disappears, leaving this shadow with a nearly matte finish. I guess that's the "sheen" finish Mirabella mentioned. The texture of this eyeshadow is ok, soft but not powdery and quite blendable, but nothing impressive. Pigmentation also isn't anything special, not bad just not on par with say..Wet n Wild eyeshadows. Pigmentation is really just average, enough to get the job done. Semiformal is a good shade to put in the crease for a warm but natural look and I've used it that way a few times. Fellow redheads might want to listen up, Semiformal is a great brow shade if you have dark strawberry blond or light brownish red hair. I use Semiformal for my brows everyday now. Some may be wary of that because of the shade's sheen finish, but I find that its not noticeable at least in person. The sheen shows up a little bit in photos, but that's ok by me, how often do I get my photo taken. Both in the eyebrows and on the eyelids Semiformal has good lasting power and doesn't crease, fade, or cause fallout.
I'm both impressed and underwhelmed by Mirabella's Semiformal eyeshadow, if that makes sense. Impressed by it's wear time and by how good of a brow shade it is, but really the texture and pigmentation is on par with drugstore shadows, and I'm not talking the exceptionally good ones. The overall quality doesn't justify the $10 price tag, especially when I could spend just $2 more to get a MAC Pro Pan eyeshadow. I like Mirabella's eyeshadow in Semiformal, I might purchase one while I have a coupon code**, but I don't really feel the need to try any other Mirabella products, the brand seems kinda over priced to me. I suggest this shade if you're a redhead looking for something to fill your brows with, otherwise skip it.
